Cichanoŭskaja discusses interparliamentary conference on Belarus with German MP
October 5, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja discussed an interparliamentary conference on Belarus with German MP Norbert Röttgen from the Bundestag’s Committee on Foreign Affairs at their meeting on the sidelines of the Warsaw Security Forum.
Parliamentary groups of friends of Belarus will gather on November 8 in Berlin to set up a coalition, her aide Franak Viačorka told Pozirk.
Cichanoŭskaja urged the Bundestag and the German government to take a more active position regarding Belarus and sanctions on its authorities, he noted.
The opposition leader discussed transfers of Ukrainian children to Belarus and the application of universal jurisdiction against Belarusian officials with Austrian Justice Minister Alma Zadić.
She also had meetings with the Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Wlachovský, Lithuanian Energy Minister Dainius Kreivys and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Moscow Mechanism rapporteur Hervé Ascensio.
