Chief of the General Staff of Belarusian Armed Forces announces troop rotation near the border with Ukraine
March 13, BPN. Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus, Viktar Hulevič announced troop rotation near the border with Ukraine.
“At present, in accordance with the task set by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, five battalion tactical groups together with the border guard authorities are covering the southern borders of our state in order to prevent various nationalist armed formations from entering the territory of Belarus from Ukraine, and to prevent illegal delivery of weapons, ammunition and explosives,” Hulevič said.
He stated that these units perform reconnaissance, patrolling, facility protection, and defense tasks on “different routes.”
“It is planned to replace them in the near future with five battalion tactical groups as well,” the press service of the Ministry of Defense quoted Hulevič as saying.
Units that have completed their tasks of covering the border “will return to their permanent deployment sites and proceed with routine daily activities.”
Authorities in Minsk deny the participation of the Belarusian army in the Russian war against Ukraine, while at the same time, the Belarusian territory is used by the Russian army for strikes against Ukraine. Moreover, the captured Russian soldiers confessed the invasion of Ukraine from Belarus.
