Former state TV anchor, his wife to go on trial on November 18
October 28, BPN. Dźmitryj Łukša, a former anchor at Belarus 1 TV channel, his wife Palina Pałavinka, cameraman Kanstancin Nikanoraŭ and two others will go on trial on November 18, the Minsk City Court’s schedule says.
Authorities accuse them of participating in protests, discrediting Belarus, inciting hatred and calling for sanctions.
Judge Natalla Buhuk, known for handing down a number of politically-motivated sentences, will preside over the hearing.
Nikanoraŭ collaborated with Łukša in projects for Kazakhstan’s Khabar 24 TV channel, while connections of other two defendants, Anastasija Jaroŭskaja and Dzianis Jaroŭski, to Łukša remain unknown.
Prosecutor General’s Office accused the journalist and cameraman of selling reports containing false claims about Belarus to a foreign TV channel.
