No signs of preparation for offensive from Belarus, threat of invasion remains – Ukrainian border guard
October 28, BPN. At the moment, there are no signs of an assault group being formed of troops in Belarus, but the threat of invasion from its territory remains, Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, told journalists.
The situation at the border remains unchanged, he said noting that Belarusian armed forces continue to protect the border and rotate units. However, Belarus continues supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine by providing its territory, airspace, and infrastructure, he added.
“We also record the escalation of the situation by both Russia and Belarus, including creation of a so-called joint group of troops and arrival of Russian soldiers in Belarus,” UNIAN reported, citing Demchenko.
Ukraine “understands perfectly well that Russia is trying in every possible way to draw Belarus into a full-scale war,” he noted. “At the same time, Belarusian authorities make public statements trying to shift responsibility to Ukraine, saying that we are supposed to be the aggressor against this country [Belarus]” he said.
