Economy ministry official praises new export routes

November 4, BPN. Current mechanisms to support exporters have helped Belarusian manufacturers reduce their costs that had grown due to new supply logistics and the redirection of sales to new markets, Deputy Economy Minister Dźmitryj Jaraševič told MPs from the standing committee on international affairs.

“As a consequence, the ‘export maneuver’ is working out well in general,” the economy ministry’s press office quoted him as saying. Sales profitability rose by 9 percent, and net profits, by 10.6 percent between January and September, Jaraševič said. A trade surplus was recorded for the fifth month in a row, while debts and the number of unprofitable enterprises went down significantly, he added.

At the same time, various industries adapt to new conditions with an uneven speed, the official noted. “Many flagship producers have already established effective cooperation with consumers who are ready to work with us on a long-term basis,” he said, adding that others must learn from their experiences.
