Ukrainian official says Belarusians, Russians flee to Ukraine

November 8, BPN. Authorities of Ukraine’s Rivne region recorded attempts by Belarusian nationals to enter Ukraine through the shared border that remains closed due to ongoing Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Even Russians who want to fight on the Ukrainian side try to cross the border, Vitaly Koval, head of the Rivne regional administration told Kyiv TV on November 7.

“Such incidents are not isolated,” he said, noting that border authorities investigate these individuals to mitigate risks associated with their presence in Ukraine. They are enlisted if they manage to prove their motivation, the official added.

The 218 km long shared border with Belarus is guarded well, Koval said. “We do not see any redeployment or regrouping of troops for an attack from Belarus,” he stressed.
