Cichanoŭskaja, PACE president discuss tribunal against Łukašenka
November 8, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Tiny Cox, during a meeting in Strasbourg, have discussed the possibility of setting up a tribunal to try Alaksandr Łukašenka and his cronies.
Cichanoŭskaja’s press office said the parties also discussed inviting representatives of Belarusian political parties and groups to a PACE session as observers. They also focused on “the Venice Commission’s analysis of the draft Constitution of Belarus developed by democratic forces.”
Cichanoŭskaja also had a meeting with the mayor of Strasbourg to discuss the prospects of organizing Belarus-themed events and inviting Belarusian publishers and authors to the city.
Cichanoŭskaja visited the French city on November 7-8. On day one, she spoke at the first meeting of the Council of Europe’s contact group with Belarusian democratic forces and civil society.
