Opposition urges people who shared data on police officers to leave Belarus

November 14, BPN. Former members of Chernaya Kniga Belarusi (Eng.: Black Book of Belarus), an online project exposing the identities of security officers who mistreated and brutalized peaceful protesters, have urged its informants to leave Belarus for security reasons.

Infopoint Media Network, an umbrella organization uniting a number of media outlets, has aligned itself with the statement posted on November 14 by Maja Kraina Belarus Telegram channel.

The statement comes after the exposure of a police undercover officer Artur Hajko among the Black Book team management. Since fall 2020, he was posing as a banking sector employee and opposition supporter, gaining access to all confidential information. He tipped off police to the identities of opposition activists who contributed to the effort.

Belarusian authorities branded the Black Book as an “extremist” group in May 2022. On November 4, the Committee for the State Security (KGB) added its alleged administrators to the list of organizations and individuals involved in terrorist activities.
