Opposition’s transition cabinet to boost its security component

November 18, BPN. Over the next six months, the joint transition cabinet plans to “expand the capacity of its security component to the level needed to carry out its key tasks,” says its report summing up the first 100 days of the cabinet’s work.

Other tasks include seeking international recognition for the cabinet, sanctions pressure on Alaksandr Łukašenka’s regime, finalizing an action plan for the transition period, accumulating international support for Belarus, and securing funding for the cabinet.

The cabinet also plans to support criminal investigations of human rights abuses in Belarus under the universal jurisdiction and establish working relations with Ukrainian authorities to jointly oppose Russian aggression and liberate Belarus.

Only the active participation of the Belarusian society, opposition, businesses, and civil society can guarantee the completion of these tasks, the report noted, stressing that donations from Belarusians are the cabinet’s key source of funding.
