Cichanoŭskaja-Poroshenko meeting initiated by former Ukrainian president – aide
November 21, BPN. The meeting between Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja and former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko took place at Poroshenko’s initiative, Cichanoŭskaja’s adviser Franak Viačorka has told BPN.
“Cichanoŭskaja met him as a former president and an MP. She will meet with any Ukrainian politicians who’d like to see free and democratic Belarus,” Viačorka said.
Cichanoŭskaja and Poroshenko met at the 2022 Halifax International Security Forum in Canada.
“We coordinated joint measures to combat Russian invaders and prevent them from using the territory of Belarus and its infrastructure to attack Ukraine,” Poroshenko tweeted on November 20.
Cichanoŭskaja is said to be looking for a face-to-face meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who run and won against Poroshenko in the 2019 presidential election.
