Lower house passes amendments to agreement on petroleum exports via Russian ports

November 23, BPN. The House of Representatives has approved a bill of amendments to the intergovernmental agreement on the transshipment of Belarusian petroleum products through Russian ports, the lower house’s Telegram channel reported.

The agreement is designed to facilitate petroleum exports to third countries via “additional alternative supply routes” running through any Russian seaports.

The original agreement with Russia dates back to February 2021. It fixed guaranteed amounts of petroleum exports until the end of 2023, as well as rail transportation and other rates.

Belarus has been working to reroute its exports to Russian ports amid Western sanctions.
