Belarus interested in joint projects with Syria, Hałoŭčanka says during Middle East visit

November 23, BPN. Belarus is interested in “serious joint projects” with Syria, Prime Minister Raman Hałoŭčanka has told his Syrian counterpart Hussein Arnous.

A video clip of their meeting in Damascus was disseminated by the Belarusian government’s press office on November 23.

Hałoŭčanka called the Belarusian delegation’s visit to Syria a “show of political support.” The Belarusians have always been there for Syria throughout its difficult years, he continued: “We did not break off economic ties, provided humanitarian aid, and took Syrian children for recuperation with great enthusiasm.”

“And we believe that today the time has come when we can talk about more serious joint projects,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Hałoŭčanka met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran. “Belarus is the only country in Europe that exports more than 60 percent of its goods and services. Under the sanctions, it is vital for us to reorganize our transport and logistics chains, and here we successfully cooperate with the Islamic Republic,” he told Raisi, as shown on state television.
