Eurovision participants in Minsk’s detention center over protests

November 26, BPN. Brothers Dźmitryj and Uładzimir Karakin, of the Litesound band that represented Belarus at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, are held at Detention Center No. 1 on Valadarskaha Street in Minsk, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.

Human rights defenders assume that authorities accuse them of participating in protests.

Pro-government sources reported the musicians’ arrest in mid-October, claiming that they participated in unauthorized marches, made unfavorable posts on social media, and cooperated with extremist organizations.
