Cichanoŭskaja to participate in Munich Leaders’ Meeting, OSCE ministerial (clarification)

Please note: Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja’s foreign policy adviser has clarified that although she will take part in the Munich Leaders’ Meeting in Bucharest, her participation in NATO foreign ministers’ talks as part of this event has not been scheduled.

November 28, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja will particiapate in Munich Leaders’ Meeting, scheduled for November 28-30 in Bucharest, and in the meeting of OSCE foreign ministers in Łódź (December 1-2). This was communicated to BPN by Franak Viačorka, a foreign policy adviser to Cichanoŭskaja.

On November 27, she began a three-day official visit to Romania on the invitation of its Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu.

Cichanoŭskaja will also speak at the meeting of OSCE foreign ministers in Łódź, Poland, on December 1. There will be a discussion on Belarus, initiated by the United States and Estonia, Viačorka said.

Belarusian Foreign Minister Uładzimir Makiej, who was expected to travel to Łódź, died on November 26. It is unclear whether the government in Minsk would send a replacement.
