Human rights activists declare 18 political prisoners
November 30, BPN. Belarusian human rights activists have declared 18 more protesters political prisoners, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports.
They are: Alaksiej Kirejeŭ; Juryj Chrystalubaŭ; Andrej Famin; Maryja Jaščanka; Bahdan Karaviec; Viktar Zihinaŭ; Dzianis Sidarok; Raman Cyhankoŭ; Kirył Kazłoŭ; Alaksandr Kulbačka; Dźmitryj Karakin; Uładzimir Karakin; David Antašvili; Alaksandr Parchomienka; Jaŭhien Hurynaŭ; Ihar Biełaš; Siarhiej Makarevič; Jaŭhienija Staravojtava.
The activists concluded that each case had a political motive in violation of the fundamental principles of fair justice. They demanded that the authorities should immediately free all political prisoners, reconsider politically motivated sentences and stop the crackdown.
The statement was signed by Viasna, the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, Lawtrend, Pravavaja Inicyjatyva, Belarusian PEN and Barys Zvozskaŭ Human Rights House.
