Łukašenka vows to launch Union State’s media company

January 9, BPN. A media holding company of the Union State of Russia and Belarus should be launched this year, preferably in its first half, Alaksandr Łukašenka told Dmitry Mezentsev, state secretary of the Union State and a former Russian envoy in Belarus.

The future media holding company should be “good, solid, powerful and definitely modern,” otherwise “it will be of no use and a waste of money,” he noted.

It would be launched as part of 28 integration programs approved by the leaders of Russia and Belarus in November 2021, he added.

In December 2022, Mezentsev said that the media holding company was being established, noting that its coverage would focus on Belarusian-Russian relations.

Earlier, Belarusian Information Minister Uładzimir Piarcoŭ said that Minsk wanted to consolidate all existing editorial offices into a unified team to streamline workflows and create competitive products.
