Cichanoŭskaja calls on Polish MPs to establish relations with her cabinet in exile

January 25, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja at a briefing in the Polish parliament has urged its lower house, the Sejm, not to recognize Alaksandr Łukašenka as president and to establish relations with her cabinet.

The politician also said it was necessary to initiate debate in international organizations in order to label the Łukašenka regime a sponsor of terrorism.

She reiterated the need to distinguish between the regime and the Belarusian people fighting for freedom, independence and a European future.

“We agreed to work with Poland today on draft reforms and a new Constitution in order to prevent dictatorship from re-emerging in the future. I ask all political parties in Poland to support Belarus, to demand the withdrawal of Russian troops from our territory and the release of all political prisoners. I am glad that here, in Poland, there is a consensus on this matter among politicians,” Cichanoŭskaja said.

Poland is Belarus’ key ally in the struggle for the liberation from the Łukašenka and Putin regimes, she added.

“We don’t have to wait for a specific moment. Changes in Belarus can happen much faster than many people expect. But to do this, we need to act now,” Cichanoŭskaja emphasized.
