Viciebsk region lifts restrictions on food exports to Lithuania, Latvia

January 31, BPN. The Viciebsk region’s authorities have lifted restrictions on some food exports to the neighboring Baltic states until the end of 2023.

The directive published on the National Legal Internet Portal on January 23 says that restrictions do not apply to goods taken by individual travelers to Lithuania and Latvia.

The Hrodna region’s authorities adopted a similar decision on goods exported by individuals to Lithuania and Poland on January 5.

In April 2022, the Belarusian Council of Ministers restricted exports of certain food items from Belarus to the countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union, including buckwheat and wheat flour, processed cereals, sugar, salt, pasta, vegetable oil of more than one liter, as well as canned meat, dairy and fish, except for canned baby food. The move was in response to Western sanctions tightened after Russia’s assault on Ukraine.
