Feature on death of prominent Belarusian journalist labeled “extremist content”

January 31, BPN. A court in Minsk has blacklisted a feature on the death of journalist Pavieł Šaramiet, posted by a pro-democracy television channel to YouTube back in July.

The Minsk City Court labeled the video “New Facts on the Killing of Pavieł Šaramiet” extremist content. Police had declared its poster, Polish-based Belsat TV, an extremist organization back in 2021.

Šaramiet, a prominent critic of Alaksandr Łukašenka, died in a car explosion in Kyiv in 2016. According to the feature, Belarusian secret services might have been involved.
