French foreign ministry upholds advise to leave Belarus

February 13, BPN. The foreign ministry in Paris has upheld its recommendation, in force since the beginning of an invasion, that French should promptly leave Belarus through border crossings with Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia as soon as possible.

Travel to Belarus remains unwelcome “in the context of Russia’s armed offensive against Ukraine” and the “closure of Belarusian airspace” caused by EU sanctions.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs recalls that the Latvian and Lithuanian borders remain open, but you can only travel to Poland through the Brest-Terespol border crossing.

Many media outlets reported the recommendation as a new development. In fact, the ministry has only updated the details on getting to Poland, which have changed after Warsaw decided to close a key border crossing last week.
