Combat readiness check begins in Belarusian army

April 3, BPN. An inspection of combat readiness began in the Belarusian Armed Forces on April 3, as ordered by Alaksandr Łukašenka, the defense ministry’s press office reported.

The inspection is supervised by the Security Council’s state secretariat.

“These complex activities would allow us to establish whether commanders are capable of managing subordinate military units when they are put on highest alert, as well as whether the units are ready to perform their tasks on schedule,” the ministry said.

The movement of civilian transport can be temporarily restricted during the drill, it added.

The drill comes amid Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which the Belarusian leadership supports the Kremlin, and amid Minsk’s increasingly militaristic rhetoric towards western countries.
