April 13, BPN. Belarusian medics have documented several cases of measles (in the Viciebsk region) for the first time since 2021, the National Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Public Health said.
The country didn’t report any cases of measles in 2022 and 2020, and three people fell ill in 2021.
Over the past 10 years incidence of measles peaked in 2018 and 2019 at more than two cases per 100,000 population, the center said. Those were the years of a spike in the WHO’s European Region, where 88,693 people were infected in 2018 and 104,442 in 2019.
