Defense ministry to staff troops with 10,000 conscripts

April 17, BPN. The Belarusian Ministry of Defense says it plans to staff the Armed Forces and other troops with 10,000 soldiers in April and May.

“On April 26, 2023, we will start to deploy Belarusian nationals called up for mandatory military service to the Armed Forces’ formations and military units, to the interior ministry’s internal troops, and to border and state security agencies,” it said on Telegram on April 17.

About 1,000 conscripts would be deployed on the first day, it added.

In March, the defense ministry said it called up reservists in order to improve their combat readiness and show them new weapons.
