Work pensions to be raised by five percent in May
April 18, BPN. Work pensions in Belarus will rise by five percent on May 1, says Alaksandr Łukašenka’s edict signed on April 17.
Individual increases will vary depending on the length of service and earnings, as well as the established supplements to the basic pension, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security’s press office said.
The average pension of a non-working retired person will amount to 705 rubels (about $240), a 21-percent increase year on year. Currently, 2.3 million Belarusians receive work pensions.
The government is to spend a total of over 1.5 billion rubels on pensions in May.
The real disposable income of Belarusians fell by 1.1 percent in January-February 2023, whereas the government projects an increase of 4.1 percent for 2023.
