No shelling from Belarus, drone launches continue – Ukrainian border guards
May 1, BPN. Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service has not registered any shelling from the Belarusian territory lately, a spokesman for the service, Andrii Demchenko, told Espresso TV yesterday.
He recalled that his country was being shelled from Belarus at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
“Belarus actively supports Russia, so it provided its territory for the shelling of Ukraine. Today, we can periodically observe Shahed launches from Belarus,” Demchenko said, referring to Iranian drones used by Vladimir Putin’s forces.
Russia has repeatedly struck Ukraine from Belarusian territory, where it has an increased military presence. It used Belarus as a launchpad for its February 2022 offensive on Kyiv. At the same time, Minsk says that Belarusian troops are not directly involved in hostilities in Ukraine.
“I don’t want to go to war,” Alaksandr Łukašenka said during a trip to the Homiel region on April 28. He also said the Ukrainians were not going to attack Belarus.
