Opposition leader to address economic forum in Davos

January 15, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has arrived in Switzerland, where she will attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos from January 15 to 18, her press office reported.

The politician will participate in the WEF high-level panel on Defending Europe’s United Front together with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Hungarian President Katalin Novák, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

Cichanoŭskaja will also address a freedom of expression panel that will bring together leading international journalists.

The politician’s agenda features several high-level meetings on WEF sidelines, including with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, his Flemish counterpart Jan Jambon and Jamie Fly, a former Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty CEO. She will also meet business and tech executives, Google among them.

The WEF annual event in Davos brings together politicians, investors, business and civil society leaders, experts and journalists to discuss global cooperation and strengthen transparency, consistency and accountability. Cichanoŭskaja represented Belarus in Davos last year.
