Health ministry reports spike in viral infections

January 24, Pozirk. Over the past week, the incidence of flu and acute respiratory viral infections soared by 33 percent in Belarus, the health ministry’s press office reports without specifying the exact numbers.

Monitoring also showed an increase in the circulation of H1N1 and H3N2 flu subtypes, said Ina Karaban of the health ministry’s department of hygiene, epidemiology and prevention. 

Belarusian health ministry released its latest report on COVID-19 statistics more than a year ago.

Global flu incidence is on the rise, with type A flu viruses dominant in Europe, according to the World Health Organization. At the same time, COVID-19 incidence has decreased in recent weeks.
