August 16, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The government has added 33 people to the list of persons “involved in extremist activity.” One of them has already featured on the list. The register currently contains 4,325 entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nine of the newly-proclaimed extremists are in custody, including six designated political prisoners: Ivan Suchamiera\u016d, Alaksandar Bli\u017aniec, Ihar \u010carnavusa\u016d, Alaksandra Mielni\u010dak, Artur Radzivanovi\u010d and U\u0142adzimir Karotki. The imprisoned Michai\u0142 \u0141a\u017ako, D\u017amitryj Baraban and Alaksandar Horbiel do not have this status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suchamiera\u016d was sentenced to 10 years at a penal colony for high treason, extremism, insulting the head of state and other alleged crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bli\u017aniec was sentenced to an unknown term at a penal colony on charges of incitement to hatred, violent disorder and insulting a state servant and the head of state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u010carnavusa\u016d was arrested in March 2023 on suspicion of extremism and insulting Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka. He has been convicted twice, but human rights activists do not have much details about the court hearings. Accordingly, he has been listed twice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mielni\u010dak was sentenced to an unknown term for alleged incitement to hatred and violent disorder. Radzivanovi\u010d, to 2.5 years at a penal colony for allegedly planning to join the Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski Regiment. Karotki, to two years at a penal colony for allegedly desecrating state symbols. He was also prescribed compulsory treatment for alcoholism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pry\u0142ucki, a former member of the strike committee at the Bie\u0142aru\u015bkalij potash company, is on a wanted list. He has been branded as an extremist for allegedly threatening violence against a police officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remaining 23 people have received the “criminal record not expired” label but are likely to be free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities monitor the financial transactions of all citizens on the extremism list with the objective of preventing the legalization of illicit funds and the financing of extremism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
