August 18, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Air\/Air Defense Commander Andrej \u0141ukjanovi\u010d has asserted the need to prepare for “an open confrontation” between Belarus and Russia on the one side and NATO on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement comes amid Ukraine’s offensive in the Kursk province of Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141ukjanovi\u010d told STV<\/em> that the Belarusian military registers 30\u201340 NATO reconnaissance flights a week and up to 30 tactical flights a day. During exercises, their number can reach 50, with pilots working out “combat tactics and strikes on the Kaliningrad province and the Republic of Belarus,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Union State of Russia and Belarus relies on a common air defense system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 12, the Belarusian Air\/Air Defense Forces sent troops to Russia for a joint live-fire exercise at the Ashuluk training range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drill was organized to improve unit cohesion and teach servicemen tactics and ways of conducting air and anti-aircraft combat, according to official reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
