August 22, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> In the first half of 2024, German-Belarusian trade in goods rose by 9.5 percent year on year to \u20ac1.2 billion, the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations reported<\/a>, citing official German statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

German exports grew by 15 percent to exceed \u20ac1 billion, while imports plunged by 28 percent to \u20ac97 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two months ago, a survey by the Representative Office of the German Economy in Belarus found that more than 90 percent of German companies are comfortable doing business in Belarus despite Western sanctions intended to punishing Minsk for alleged human rights abuses and support of Russia’s war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus’ authoritarian leader Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka repeatedly urged officials and executives to trade with the European Union despite economic sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
