August 25, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> A total of 115 Russian soldiers captured by the Ukrainian military in Russia’s Kursk province have been exchanged for Ukrainian prisoners of war and brought to Moscow, tvzvezda.ru<\/em> reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A day earlier, the Russian defense ministry said that the servicemen were in Belarus, confirming earlier reports of Belarus being used for prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United Arab Emirates were reportedly involved in the prisoner exchange negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv has repeatedly indicated its intentions to use Russians captured amid its ongoing offensive in the Kursk province to free Ukrainians from Russian captivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed yesterday that 115 Ukrainian soldiers returned home, including six National Guard servicemen who used to guard the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine. Authorities in Minsk denied the Belarusian army\u2019s involvement in combat operations but allowed Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and have persecuted Belarusians for antiwar positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
