August 26, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus will hold the second stage of a comprehensive check in the Homiel region’s territorial defense troops on August 26\u2013September 6, the defense ministry reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the report, the drill will be led by the General Staff’s deputy chief in charge of territorial defense. Colonel Andrej Kra\u016d\u010danka has held this position since June 24. Previously, he served as first deputy chief of the General Staff Main Operational Directorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian commanders plan to evaluate the combat readiness of reservists and the efficiency of local officials and enlistment offices responsible for the formation and deployment of territorial troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 25, Kyiv called on Belarus not to make \u201ctragic mistakes\u201d under Russia\u2019s pressure and to withdraw its forces from the Ukrainian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citing intelligence data, the Ukrainian foreign ministry said that the Belarusians are massing significant forces in the Homiel region under the guise of exercises, including tanks, artillery, multiple rocket launchers, air defense systems and engineering equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
