August 26, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian sector is a menace, but there is no movement of hardware or personnel in the immediate vicinity of Ukraine’s border, Ukrainian border guard spokesman Andriy Demchenko said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In general, the situation along the border is unchanged,” he said, as quoted by UNIAN<\/em>. “The Ukrainian defense forces fully control the border line.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that Russia does not have a sufficient group in Belarus to invade Ukraine from there. However, he emphasized that Moscow is likely pushing Minsk to join its war “on a larger scale.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 25, Kyiv called on Belarus not to make \u201ctragic mistakes\u201d under Russia\u2019s pressure and to withdraw its forces from the border area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citing intelligence data, the Ukrainian foreign ministry said that the Belarusians are massing significant forces in the Homiel region under the guise of exercises, including tanks, artillery, multiple rocket launchers, air defense systems and engineering equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
