August 26, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has expressed support for the Belsat <\/em>TV channel at her meeting with its acting head Alaksiej Dzikavicki in Warsaw, belsat.eu<\/em> reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe importance of Belsat<\/em> as the only independent TV channel in the world for Belarusians can hardly be overestimated,\u201d it quoted her as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier today, users were able to access belsat.eu a<\/em>fter a three-week break, reportedly linked to technical issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 19, the Polish Onet<\/em> portal reported that 10 Belsat managers, including Dzikavicki and former head Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy, were suspected of mismanagement. Dzikavicki dismissed the allegations of irregularities\u00a0as lies and libel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report surfaced amid plans of reorganization of\u00a0Belsat<\/em>, which is funded by the Polish government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month,\u00a0Polish state-run broadcaster TVP<\/em>\u00a0announced that\u00a0Belsat<\/em>\u00a0will join its World Programs Center (O\u015brodek program\u00f3w dla Zagranicy), operating all foreign-language services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian opposition and\u00a0Belsat<\/em>\u00a0journalists urged the Polish government and\u00a0TVP<\/em>\u00a0to keep the Belarusian channel as an independent unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
