September 4, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian troops have left for Kyrgyzstan to participate in the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s (CSTO) drill based on combat experience and focusing on new tactical techniques, the defense ministry’s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contingent, led by Major General Andrej Macijevi\u010d, the first deputy chief of the Belarusian General Staff, will train along with the CSTO rapid reaction forces, intelligence and logistics units, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyrgyzstan’s Edelweiss training center will host the drill involving the CSTO members’ armed forces, interior and emergency situations ministries as well as CSTO Secretariat and Joint Staff officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In late August, CSTO Chief of Joint Staff Andrei Serdyukov announced three major joint CSTO drills this fall. Apart from the drill in Kyrgyzstan, training will take place in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, he said. The former will host the Unbreakable Brotherhood-2024, the bloc\u2019s peacekeeping exercise, in early October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Moscow-led CSTO is a military-political alliance whose declared goals are strengthening peace, international and regional security and stability, and protecting its member states\u2019 independence. It consists of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
