September 6, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> In August, 4,916 new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Belarus, the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA) reported, citing data from affiliated dealers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sales soared more than two-fold from August 2023, while total sales in January-August reached 29,987 and have already exceeded the yearly sales in 2023, said Alaksandar Stelmach, a BAA board member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stelmach linked the rise to dealers’ expanded supplies and brisk demand, fueled by credit availability, growing Belarusians’ incomes and restricted car imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expansion of the electric vehicles charging points enabled dealers to boost EV sales from 1.7 percent to more than 5 percent of the total this year, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Belarusian dealers sold 21,761 new cars and 3,647 light commercial vehicles, D\u017amitryj Jarota of the BAA Consult told journalists in late January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
