September 9, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Officials in the Viciebsk and Or\u0161a districts will call up reservists for territorial troops training from September 10 to October 3, the defense ministry’s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drill will focus on improving officials\u2019 skills in setting up local territorial troops units, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement follows the completion of an exercise involving the Homiel region\u2019s territorial troops command on Friday. Another group of reservists is scheduled to complete their training in the Minsk region\u2019s S\u0142uck district later this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Territorial troops are an auxiliary part of the Armed Forces called up in time of war or military tension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May 2023, Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin announced that territorial defense \u201cis being transformed from a support system into a full-fledged combat one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army is regularly conducting small-scale exercises amid Russia\u2019s ongoing war in Ukraine, in which authorities in Minsk support the Kremlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
