November 4, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Belarusian opposition needs a single \u201ccenter of power\u201d to make sure it will not miss its chance for democratic change, politician Vadzim Prakopje\u016d said at a meeting with Belarusians in Warsaw on November 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noting that hundreds of thousands of Belarusians have fled the country for safety reasons, Prakopje\u016d, a senior figure behind the Kastus Kalino\u016dski Regiment in Ukraine, expressed hope that at least 100,000 will throw their weight behind a transparent exiled opposition organization to make it a real political force.

He said that the opposition camp, as it is set up at present, is ineffective and has already missed opportunities to capitalize on Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s illness in May and the Wagner Group\u2019s mutiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He pointed out that the opposition faces the challenge to prevent Belarus from becoming Russia\u2019s consolation prize in the event of its defeat in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2025 presidential election in Belarus should also open up opportunities for the opposition, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the same event, Andrej Jahora\u016d, speaker of the opposition Coordination Council, stressed that the center of power should rally both political emigrants and opponents of the government based in Belarus. He sees the forthcoming election for the Coordination Council as part of the center-of-power building process.
