September 12, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja and Gunta Pastore, Latvia’s ambassador at large, have considered ways to help \u00e9migr\u00e9s sell their cars after the European Union imposed restrictions on cars with Belarusian registration plates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exiles cannot sell their vehicles back in Belarus for fear of reprisals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Cichano\u016dskaja’s office, the parties also discussed political prisoners, sanctions, Latvia’s support of Belarusian civil society and independent media, and other issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, the opposition leader took to Twitter (X) to express her joy over a recent pardon for 30 political prisoners in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, reprisals continue to intensify, and over 1,400 people remain in detention for political reasons, Cichano\u016dskaja said. \u201cWe need sustained international pressure to secure the freedom of all of them,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
