September 15, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus’ EU neighbors have stopped 30,022 illegal entries from the country since the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to official statistics, Poland accounted for 83.9 percent of attempted crossings, Latvia \u2013 14.2 percent, and Lithuania \u2013 1.9 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same period last year, the EU reported 30,697 attempts, but the proportion was different. Poland had a share of 67.5 percent, Latvia \u2013 27.1 percent, and Lithuania \u2013 5.4 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Illegal migration at the border had eased by mid-summer but then rose again. Since the beginning of September, the three countries have prevented at least 1,641 attempts to sneak in from Belarus. That represented an increase of 47.6 percent from the same period in August and 68.5 percent from the same period in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
