Novem\u00adber 4,\u00a0Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong>\u00a0The Belarusian government has staged Bolshevik-style reenactment to celebrate the opening of a two-level overpass over the highway linking Hrodna and Aziary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The show was dedicated to the Bolshevik Revolution, said the government\u2019s press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian government marks the revolution, which led to a dictatorship, by an official holiday on November 7 and has adopted authoritarian practices chillingly reminiscent of Josef Stalin\u2019s terror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reenactors held a sign that said, \u201cClever People Build Bridges, Stupid Build Fences,\u201d an apparent reference to neighbors\u2019 recent efforts to beef up border security in response to a migrant crisis engineered by Belarusian authorities and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another sign said, \u201cGreetings to Stakhanovites from Hrodna Residents!\u201d, a reference to the Soviet superstar miner, Aleksei Stakhanov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the ceremony, Prime Minister Raman Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka stressed the need for repairing and broadening the road linking Lepiel, Viciebsk region, and Russia. \u201cThis is a very important highway for us because of the heavy traffic bound for northeastern Russia, the Leningrad province,\u201d he told state media journalists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
