September 21, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> New cases of politically-motivated persecution documented in Belarus on September 20 targeted Belarusians\u2019 online activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vital Chramco\u016d aka bulbanews<\/em> on Instagram with 600,000 followers was tried on Thursday in Viciebsk for sharing opposition content and petty hooliganism, the Vitebsk, Ya Gulayu! <\/em>Telegram channel said. He may have been released, as his Telegram channel was updated the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judge Juryj \u0141uncevi\u010d in Re\u010dyca, Homiel region, tried Dyjana Naraje\u016dskaja for sharing opposition content, the Homiel branch of the Viasna Human Rights Center said. The sentence remains unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bie\u0142telekam employees Hienad\u017a Ar\u0142o\u016dski, Siarhiej \u010cartko\u016d, D\u017amitryj Fiedukovi\u010d and his wife Alena were tried on similar charges in U\u0161a\u010dy, Viciebsk region, the Vitebsk, Ya Gulayu!<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January-August, Belarusian authorities branded dozens of social media accounts, six websites and three books extremist, the Minsk prosecutor’s office reported. Blacklisted content includes 44 X accounts, 24 TikTok pages and 14 YouTube channels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arrests of dissenters continued across Belarus: Mikita Maksimienka and another man were arrested in S\u0142a\u016dharad, Mahilo\u016d region, for tearing down the state flag from an office building and placing it on a flowerbed, a pro-government source said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian authorities have arrested about 65,000 people for political reasons in the four years since the August 2020 presidential election, Viasna reported in early August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
