September 24, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja suggested the European Union waive visa fees for Belarusians under 25 as she met the outgoing EU foreign policy chief, Josep Borrel, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politicians discussed other visa policy aspects, restrictions on the entry of Belarus-registered cars into the EU and preparations for a meeting of the Consultative Group formed of EU officials and Belarusian pro-democracy leaders. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja also stressed the need for the EU to continue supporting the Belarusian independent media and civil society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opposition transition cabinet awarded Borrel with the Cross of Good Neighborliness, distinguishing his support in the democratization of Belarus, Cichano\u016dskaja\u2019s aide Franak Via\u010dorka told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, Cichano\u016dskaja also discussed reprisals and incommunicado detentions in Belarus with Beth Van Schaack, the US ambassador-at-large for global criminal justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
