September 25, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Authorities have accused a man in Dziat\u0142avi\u010dy, Brest region, of desecrating state symbols. They suspect him of ripping a state flag from a rural shop in 2021. The man was identified three years later after being fingerprinted for military duty, the State Forensic Examination Committee reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two residents of the Mahilo\u016d region’s S\u0142a\u016dharad, including a minor, were accused of the same, a pro-government source reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A man was arrested for “distributing Nazi symbols.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two men and a woman were arrested in H\u0142ybokaje, Viciebsk region, for taking part in protests in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A man was arrested for online comments, taking part in protests and links to the opposition Victory Plan (P\u0142an Pieramoha).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities also banned social media of Taciana Chomi\u010d, the sister of imprisoned opposition activist Maryja Kale\u015bnikava, as extremist content. The ban covers her TikTok, Instagram and Facebook pages, the information ministry reported. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blogger Maksim \u0160abucki’s YouTube channel and the yana.joj Instagram page were also blacklisted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human rights defenders designated five people as political prisoners, Viasna reported. They granted this status to Raman Hrale\u016dski, taken into custody for allegedly insulting the head of state and an official. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also listed Siarhiej Kozika\u016d sentenced to a year and a half and Alaksandar Zubko\u016d sentenced to two years, convicted of defaming the head of state, as well as Alaksandar Saciuk sentenced to an unknown term for allegedly insulting Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and an official and Siarhiej Pa\u015bpie\u0142a\u016d sentenced to a year and a half for allegedly insulting \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exiled journalist Siarhiej Sku\u0142aviec said on Facebook that authorities searched the premises of his mother. They accused the man living in the USA of cooperation with the Polish-based Belsat<\/em> TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of September 25, human rights defenders identified at least 1,324 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian authorities have arrested about 65,000 people for political reasons in the four years since the August 2020 presidential election, Viasna reported in early August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
