October 2, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has authorized the transportation ministry to negotiate a draft air service agreement with Saudi Arabia, according to the Belarusian leader’s press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The draft outlines the terms and conditions for performing flights, boarding and offboarding passengers, as well as loading and unloading baggage, cargo and mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The document’s implementation will allow us to ensure flight safety and the development of mutually beneficial air service cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the office said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk does not have a diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia and is represented by its embassy in the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July 2023, then-Foreign Minister Siarhiej Alejnik discussed tourism intensification and visa facilitation with Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed A. Elkhereiji. At the time, Minsk expressed willingness to open an embassy in Riyadh, but no progress has been reported since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus and Saudi Arabia established diplomatic relations on June 6, 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Belarusian ministry, trade between the two countries amounted to $42.3 million in 2021. Belarusian exports totaled $6.1 million. More recent data is not available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
