October 8, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Ten forward air control posts have been deployed and manned by military personnel as part of an army drill, General Staff Chief Pavie\u0142 Muraviejka said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defense ministry’s press office quoted him as saying that during the first stage of the drill the troops practiced countering enemy aircraft, repelling airstrikes and other support missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soldiers, including reservists, draw weapons, military and special equipment out of storage and readied it for combat, the general said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system training draft-age Belarusians is quite effective, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 30, the defense ministry announced maneuvers focused on the Air\/Air Defense Forces’ “readiness and ability to perform tasks as intended.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 6, the defense ministry said that the drill will involve reservists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, it said that mobilization training will be held on October 8\u201311, under the leadership of regional executive committee heads. The classes will be aimed at increasing the readiness and coherence of territorial defense management bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s government has often held military drills amid tension with the West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
