October 9, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The seizure of the Belsat<\/em> TV CEO Alaksiej Dzikavicki’s house in Belarus represents \u201canother act of persecution of Belarusians for their civic position,\u201d said the Rada of the Belarusian National Republic (BNR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The future democratic government of free Belarus should restore civil and property rights to those who suffered from Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s politically-motivated reprisals, it noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another important step should be the identification of public officials involved in human rights abuses, said the oldest Belarusian government in exile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every employee of law enforcement agencies complicit in reprisals against Belarusians “should be deprived of the right to serve in state agencies and the right to be elected to government bodies for life,\u201d the Rada stressed. Their service to the \u201cpro-Russian repressive regime should not be included in the job record,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2007 in a deal between the Polish foreign ministry and the Polish broadcaster TVP<\/em>, Belsat <\/em>broadcasts for Belarusian audiences. Minsk labeled it an extremist group in November 2021 along with dozens other independent media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
