October 10, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Unilever says it has sold its business in Russia and Belarus to Russian manufacturer Arnest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UK-based fast-moving consumer goods company was often criticized for maintaining operations there after Russia invaded Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Over the past year, we have been carefully preparing the Unilever Russia business for a potential sale,” said chief executive Hein Schumacher. “This work has been very complex, and has involved separating IT platforms and supply chains, as well as migrating brands to Cyrillic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of 2022, the company estimated its Russian assets at \u20ac900 million. One year later, the estimate dropped to \u20ac600 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Unilever subsidiary has worked in Belarus since 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arnest is owned by Aleksey Sagal, who is particularly interested in assets of foreign companies leaving Russia. Earlier, the group bought Heineken, Ball Corporation and Oriflame businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Financial Times<\/em>, Unilever sold its Russian assets for \u20ac520 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
