October 11, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Kyiv has called on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the United World Wrestling (UWW) to ban Belarusian wrestler Iryna Kura\u010dkina from its competitions, the Ukrainian Ministry of Youth and Sports reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kura\u010dkina, and Russian wrestlers Abdulrashid Sadulayev and Zaur Uguyev were seen at propaganda events or supported the war on social media, said Sports Minister Matvii Bidnyi, National Olympic Committee President Vadym Guttsait and Ukrainian Wrestling Association head Yuriy Kopytko in a letter to IOC President Thomas Bach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv stressed that the participation of controversial athletes in the World Championship in Non-Olympic Weight Classes, which will be held in Tirana on October 28\u201331, is unacceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 24, the UWW eased eligibility criteria for wrestlers and support personnel from Belarus and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only evidence of direct participation in the war or public statements in support of it or its promoters are considered to declare athletes ineligible. The UWW will review all previous bans in accordance with the new criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
