October 15, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed interest in launching technology, tractor and health ventures at a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Raman Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka in Islamabad, the Belarusian Council of Ministers reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In turn, Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka said one of the obvious options was the production of agricultural machinery, including “direct supplies from Belarus as well as a shift to production in Pakistan.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 13, Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka went on a four-day work trip to Oman and Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan is far from being Belarus\u2019 major trading partner. Data is not available on two-way trade for 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Belarusian embassy in the South Asian country, between January and August 2021, trade amounted to $53.2 million (Belarusian exports, $44.3 million; imports, $8.9 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan has imported Belarusian tractors since Soviet times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2024, the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad published an assessment of the 30-year relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said that in the first five months of 2023, trade grew by 30 percent, with Belarusian exports to Pakistan increasing by 50 percent year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
